What is Proposition 65?

Proposition 65 (“Prop 65”) is a California law that requires businesses to provide a clear warning before exposing individuals in California to any of the 900+ chemicals identified by the State of California as known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. Prop 65 is a “right-to-know” law — it does not ban or restrict the use of these chemicals. Instead, it ensures people are informed about potential exposures.

Why does Bumpboxx include this warning?

Some components used in electronics — such as certain plastics, wiring, and metal parts — may contain trace amounts of chemicals on the Prop 65 list. These substances are also found in many everyday items such as electronics, furniture, jewelry, lamps, and automotive parts.

Bumpboxx products meet or exceed applicable federal and state safety requirements. The Prop 65 warning is provided to comply with California law — not because our products are unsafe when used as intended.

Does this law apply everywhere?

No. Prop 65 is specific to California. However, because we ship products nationwide and do not know where each unit will be sold, we include the warning on all applicable products.

Are Bumpboxx products safe?

Yes. Our products are designed and manufactured to comply with all applicable safety laws and regulations. Proposition 65 is not a product safety law — it is a notification requirement to ensure California residents are informed.
